Possession and the last tenth of the law

Posted By Ing on July 7, 2010

I heard somebody recite the old “possession is 9/10 of the law” saying today. Just in passing, but it got me thinking.

What about the other tenth? I mean, 9/10 isn’t a done deal.

Maybe the last tenth involves somebody with money a really, really good lawyer. Or somebody with a gun. Or somebody with both.

And what if your 9/10 of the law involves — say — Chuck Liddell, and he decides to take the last tenth of the law into his own hands?

Your 9/10 of the law isn’t looking so good now, is it.

Still, I’m thinking even that might be preferable to the lawyer scenario.

Yeah, I think a good ol’ ass-whuppin’ is probably preferable to a drawn out and expensive legal battle. Although I prefer to be on the giving side of it.

Wow. The transition from the two of them basically sparring and testing one another to Liddell pounding the crap out of the other guy was incredibly fast. I had to watch that video a couple of times to figure out what happened. Basically, Liddell got one solid, lightning fast punch right on the other guy’s nose, the other guy pulled his arms up to protect his face, and that’s all Liddell needed to just let lose and pound the guy to jelly.

Yeah, I think Lackhand has it right. It’s best to be on the winning end either way, but you *really* don’t want to be on the losing end of a legal battle. Broken bones can heal, but legal bills could be forever.

Chuck Liddell is one of my favorite MMA fighters. One of the best there’s ever been. Almost all of his fights went like that. He has a pretty wild style. Risky, but he was fast and powerful enough to make it work. I say was because he’s fading now. Lost his last 6 fights in a row, or something like that. Not as young and fast as he used to be, and the other fighters are getting better. But in his prime…amazing.

Liddell is an animal. He is great to watch. I even enjoyed seeing him dance on Dancing with the Stars. I think I would play dead if he were coming for me.
