The first hundred words

The first hundred words have been written!

Well, not the first hundred I’ve ever written, and definitely not the best, but at least they have been written – the first actual noveling words I’ve written in months.   Truth to tell, I’m not feeling particularly inspired at the moment.  I do have periodic flashes of story-related inspiration, but somehow never get them on paper.  But at least I’m getting words out now.  If I keep this up, maybe I’ll actually catch one of those good moments in writing.

Earlier today I was still thinking about how we’d arrange this word-count challenge thing when I saw that Liz (of Real Joined-Up Writing) had already started, so I figured I’d better not get left behind.  So following her lead, I added a Word Count link group and threw together a couple hundred words of novelish sludge.  Unless Daeruin (of Noesis) is doing some writing on the sly, he’s got some catching up to do.  Come on, you slacker!  Git ‘r done!

Anyone who wants to is welcome to join in or look in.

We’re still working out the specifics, but in the meantime you can find a bit more info on what we’re doing on Real Joined-Up Writing or here on Blog Ing (see the comments in my Imitating Tolkien post).

:-) Even when the words are hard to write it’s worth the effort. And there’s always revision for polishing them. Have I mentioned I HATE revison?

  2. Okay, I’m in. I’ll get started right now. I think I’m behind already. You both are done, and I’m just starting…and I didn’t even blog yesterday. Arghhhhhhhh!!!

Ing, I finished writing my hundred words about a half hour after you posted this. So I’m not behind! Welcome to the game, Theadra. You’re only one day behind. We won’t flog you for missing the first day. :)

Hey, I just noticed that my blog hasn’t changed over to Daylight Savings Time. I thought I was posting at 11:55 pm, but on Blog Ing time it was only 10:55…now I officially have an extra writing hour in my day!

    Hahahahahaha!! (Oh…sorry.) Heh.
