Back in the saddle…and tired as hell
Posted By Ing on April 4, 2008
Okay, I’m back. Back in the blogging game and back in the writing and word-counting game too.
And oh, yeah…
I’m tired
Stayed up too late last night playing Pokemon at the hotel in Seattle with the young-un. He kicked my butt. Then I had to get up early, so as to get to the free breakfast buffet and then get on the road.
Thanks to the whole surgery thing I have no leave hours to use, so I had to get back in time to work this afternoon. (The doctors gave me a clean bill of health, btw, so I guess I’m officially recovered now, even if my vacation time isn’t.)
However, thanks to the young-un taking a half hour of groaning and complaining (and did I mention complaining?) before I finally pulled him bodily out of bed (that’s what I get for letting him stay up late enough to Pokemon the crap out of me), and then a bad case of morning traffic in the city, that getting back to work thing didn’t work so well. Dunno what was fouling things up, as it was after traditional rush hour, but it took about 2 hours to get out of Seattle’s environs and onto a reasonably traffic-free freeway. On the way in, that same drive took about 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, to add insult to injury, the young-un napped while I drove through a part of eastern Washington called the Channeled Scablands (which are only slightly more scenic than their name suggests).
Even if that sleepy boy had gotten up on time, I still would have been seriously late. Fortunately the people at work are very understanding. You’ll be two hours late? No problem! (You’ll make that up later, of course.) Heh. The good news (or is it?) is that now I’m officially recovered, I actually can make up the hours later if need be.
Anyway… Useless rambling. On to the point I intended to make.
I’m reporting my word count again now
What I really need to do is let the Word Counting folks know that I’m back in the saddle. (Reminds me of that old Aerosmith song: I’m back in the saddle again…I’m baaaaaack!)
I’ve updated things today, so you’ll see the fruits of my in absentia labors — including that big fat zero on April 1 – in the sidebar and on my daily writing log page.
Yes, I missed a day. Go ahead. Flog me. I can take it! (I think.)
Welcome back. (FLOG!)
Welcome to Flog Ing! Flog flog flog! Floggety flog! Floggeroo! Flogalicious! Flogamazillion! Floggercallifragilisticexplialidocious!
Okay…now that’s crossing the line. No Mary Poppins references allowed on this blog.
Hey, when you don’t write your 100 words, bad things can happen. I hope you’ve learned something about consequences from this debacle.
LOL
I won’t admit that I didn’t write last night, then.
